A Nobel Prize for FFM Entertainment and monterey media inc.
Los Angeles, CA Thousand Oaks based monterey media inc. and Hollywood based FFM Entertainment are proud to announce the joint venture acquisition of a premiere Independent feature documentary “Nobelity” written and directed by Turk Pipkin, whose work as a writer and an actor include the American Masters film, "Willie Nelson - Still is Still Moving," "Friday Night Lights" and "The Sopranos."
A look at the world's most pressing problems through the eyes of Nobel laureates, Nobelity follows filmmaker Turk Pipkin's personal journey to find answers about the kind of world his children and grandchildren will know. Filmed across the U.S., and in France, England, India and Africa, Nobelity combines the insights of nine distinguished Nobelists with a first-person view of world problems and the children who are most affected by them. The Distinguished Laureates of Nobelity include: Desmond Tutu, (Nobel Peace Prize, 1984.) Tutu talks about the power of love and forgiveness, and about the human capacity to accomplish great things; and Sir Joseph Rotblat, (Nuclear Physicist/Disarmament Activist Nobel Peace Prize, 1995), a contemporary of Einstein, who fifty years ago co-signed with Rotblat a letter to the world calling for an end to nuclear proliferation. The alliance’s release plans include a unique global distribution strategy centered around Earth Day, 2006 and is currently in discussion with Amnesty International and several other organizations about co-sponsoring multiple screenings across the country.
"So much of what we hear is based on some particular political, media or corporate stance," says Pipkin. "And I went to the Nobelists hoping they could give me insights that were simply based on knowledge and the common good. Amnesty International was awarded their Nobel Prize in 1979 and are a perfect alliance for this film."
In a joint announcement, Craig Baumgarten, speaking for FFM Entertainment, stated, “The need for provocative, issue oriented programming has always been important, but is even more evident in light of the recent natural disasters encompassing our entire world. In my long friendship with Turk, I have never been more proud of him and his work.”
Scott Mansfield, CEO and Managing Partner of monterey media agrees, “ monterey is thrilled to partner in presenting Mr. Pipkin’s insightful film. This is a powerful and resonating message that will be eagerly received by the public today. Definitely Academy Award material.”
